X needs a big donor because the NIL money is getting bigger and bigger. As part of the House v. NCAA proposed settlement, Division I schools will be allowed to share athletic department revenues with their varsity athletes beginning in the 2025-26 academic year. NCAA cap estimated to be $ 20.5 million for the 2025-26 fiscal year. The cap is estimated to increase to around $ 30 million annually per school over the next ten years.
St Johns has a billionaire owner of Auto Zone pledging as much money as needed for their NIl.
Louisville is prepared to spend $8 to $10 million in the transfer portal for its 2025 roster, a source told On3 2024-25 season Louisville average per player was $411,875 for 15 players
The Big Ten Basketball: Ohio State averaged $220,738 for 14 players, Illinois averaged $435,176 for 13 players, Penn St averaged 126,904 for 14 players. Minnesota averaged $256,312 for 14 players.

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Re: NIL
does not make it so BUT. I watch The HERD show on tv with Colin Herd and he is generally right on regarding his views of sports in general. No one is always right. Anyhow, generally he said today 3-24-2025 that the small conferences basketball teams cannot compete and the mid majors maybe headed that way also......meaning that the top power conferences will pick off the great players within the mid majors on down with their large NIL monies. He seems to believe that the Big Power Conferences will dominate March Madness into the future. WHY because they have the large/big NIL funds to buy almost anyone.

Re: NIL
I heard X has 3.1 million in NIL money not sure if that is factual. St. John’s spent 4 million on there roster this year and they have total commitment from large donors to do whatever it takes to win. Villanova is trying to lure Kevin Willard and are promising him the moon. I do not see how X can compete in this kind of crazy environment. Forget about the SEC and Big Ten plus the Big 12 schools.

I've heard it's $3.5M+, but what do I know?
Also, word is a big donor stepped up to try and keep Sean. The Admin knew it was coming. Texas had to get formal permission to speak to Sean from X before doing so. Goodman also leaked it 10 days ago, as TX strategically leaked it to him and certain media members. Terry needed to win at least 3 games in the Tounrey to possibly survive.
The fact that Sean's agent also represents TX's football coach, Sarkisian, and the AD has a personal relationship with Sean hastened the process. No doubt word was put in Mack's ear days before the announcement positioned as a "just in case" scenario.
Many know that Mack proactively went for the job when they fired Steele, and said if Miller didn't take it, he wanted it. They will still interview 3 or 4 others I'm sure. You don't hire a search committee otherwise. However, it could just be window dressing to satisfy the fan base and some donors. We'll find out in the next few days. I still say unless Mack fumbles the ball, he will be the guy.
