I'm sure at that moment he was "all in'... It's the time away that show a person's real character... I could see him leaving for a Blue Blood, but Texas???... It's a football school, always will be... But their fan base is delusional... They think they should be national champs in every sport... Good luck Sean... Dan

Re: Texas job/Sean
I feel like a jilted man at the alter on his Wedding day. I believed Sean would remain loyal to X after we gave him a second chance. How naive of me. He is a good coach but did just a ok job at X. This college sports scene is a mess. I understand it is not going to change but it has certainly taken most of the fun out it for me and I love college b ball. X is going to be in a tough spot next year. It will be interesting to see if Conwell and Swain are wearing cowboy boots next year. Lastly I would take Mack back but a big no on Luke Murray. I know a little about him and he is not ready for a top job in the Big East. I also like the guy from Loyola. Sean really let us down I expected more from him. Silly me.

Thanks … Hope it holds true!
While recognizing re-hiring Coach Mack may be more controversial for some than the re-hire of our previous Coach, I am on the side of the re-hire.
While not desiring to rehash the initial departures of Coach Miller and Coach Mack, as mentioned previously in this thread, at least Coach Mack had a family reason heavily involved in his decision. Also, if hired, Coach Mack will not need to be reintroduced to nearly as many donors and key Xavier personnel. He’ll be able to get to work immediately out of the chute.
We all anxiously await what develops.

Well all of you have better hearts than me. I wouldn't hire Mack no matter how bad we need him. I can see a Xavier coach going to a big name program for more money. But Mack was born in Cincinnati, went to school at Xavier, Played ball at Xavier, was a assistant at Xavier and then as the HEAD COACH AT XAVIER HE WAS RECRUITING FOR LOUISVILLE. To me that crosses the line . When and how he left was classless. We only had one recruiting coming in. He left in such a heartless way that we had to panic and hire Steele. It's like your girlfriend dumps you for your best friend and than after she gets dumped you take her back. Not once but twice. LOL I guess we haven't learned yet. There are plenty of good coaches we could hire. I don't like recycled traitors.

Kevin Reilly, I agree wholeheartedly. There are other experienced coaches who might be interested. Don’t rush. Take a few days and make a good decision.

Old hoopster I'm with you again. There is no need to rush. Most likely Swain and Conwell are gone anyway. So are the freshman probably. We need to get a good coach. That is the most important thing. Most likely the new coach will be staring from scratch. Don't want a desperate , hurried choice like Steele. We need to start recruiting better at the High School level. We might take our lumps for a couple years but we still will have our dignity. LOL

I would bet this is the 1st time anyone heard of the rag Sportskeeda. From ChatGPT:
Sports Mag covering a variety of int'l sports based out of India
Content is more fan-oriented and sometimes clickbaity.
Not considered a primary or “authoritative” news source like ESPN, The Athletic, or BBC Sport.
So, he makes $5M a year, and after making about $60M cumulatively from X and AZ in 15 years of coaching, his net worth is only $10M? Did he invest in Mman's flying car startup?
I'll bet it is closer to $3.3M base with modest incentives.

Re: Texas job/Sean
i'm leaning towards the camp of NOT hiring Mack.
some reasons why:
1. he left us just like MIller did, yet we brought Miller back anyway as well. maybe learn from our mistakes in the past.
2. I understand Mack is a good coach and seems like an "easy" choice, but just because it's easy doesn't mean it's RIGHT.
3. I think it's time for new blood in the athletic dept itself. not sure who has the checks and balances to hire/fire but I think it's time for Greg Christopher to GO. he wants to be a university president somewhere (maybe X when our current president leaves/moves on/is fired/etc.) we need a REAL AD whose only focus is the athletic dept and isn't some vice president of community relations of whatever the hell he is.
4. I don't know who we could get but there's gotta be someone impressive enough to hire that outweighs all the past negatives of bringing Mack back to X. - Prosser at Winthrop could be ready? not sure we want to go asst coach route in this at all. but there's gotta be a mid-major guy who's done well that's ready to jump.
either way, if they hired a search firm then MAYBE it ISN'T going to be the quick hire of Mack like we thought.
who knows.
