BE and ACC to merge basketball only ? doubt it but
Does not make sense to me, because there would be 29 teams. There is talk on the internet that the 2 conferences are talking about a 2 tier Super Basketball Conference by merging the ACC and BE basketball teams only . A top tier group and a lower tier group?? If it happens it may be way down the road or just crazy talk?

IMO it will be another half decade plus but we will see some schools have up to three conference affiliations:
1) Football conf
2) Basketball conf
3) All other sports
The money is too big not to consolidate the best football schools together. They play once a week and have the funds to travel. National audiences arent clamoring for Rutgers vs Buckeyes or Mississippi State vs Georgia. Mens lacrosse doesnt need to go from New York to California to play a conference game. The economics will drive everything in this direction. Hope X is picked up in a good basketball conference. Well positioned with history, focus, and facilities. Basketball success drives enrollment.

I do not know all the facts but. Large enrollments can mean a larger alumni base. More millionaires from a larger alumni base, maybe more donations etc. I think i have read that Xavier turns away more people that apply to come to X ...than they let in.? Over the years X could have a much larger 4 year classes but for some reason they choose not to . X takes in about 1000 plus a year, whereas the bigger schools take in 10,000 a year.

I believe Ohio State has the largest or one of the largest alumni bases. A private school cannot expand like a public school. A few years ago, UC retracted its student numbers and only recently expanded because it improved its infrastructure.Xavier2005 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 10:28 pmI do not know all the facts but. BTW More than 465,000 Ohio State alumni live in 157 countries, with 250,000 staying close to their alma mater by settling in Ohio. The Bearcats have a little over 350,000 alum
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Coach K apparently is a proponent of this. Why not separate football from all other sports and go back to the old leagues.Bring back the PAC 10.
