Re: Phila. Inquirer game story on Lady Muskies' win
"I just told [the Owls] that the best team and the hardest-working team didn't win this game tonight," Staley said. "But the team that couldn't score lost the basketball game. We executed the game plan to a T, but offensively, we couldn't get it going."
uuh, head to head this year Ms Staley, your team is 0-2 against the Lady Muskies.

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Yes, that was a slightly arrogant quote from the Owls' coach.
You have to admit, though, that if Temple had even shot 20-63, which would still be a LOUSY shooting night, they win that game.

I called that to Dustin's attention in his blog and he was nice enough to respond that there was an AP story in the print edition (which of course being an out-of-towner I do not get). He said he would call it to the attention of those who should make it happen. I like Dow but really find the way the Enquirer generally covers XU to stink! Xavier wins back to back league championships and nary a mention ... that is sad!Mr. Neutral wrote:I couldn't find anything in the online Enquirer.

Watching that game I thought that the men's team had taught the ladies how to play D because at times they swarmed the Temple players but the Temple players did miss a lot of shots(which were contested but makable). Also with their Phillips they had no answer inside, except Phillips's missed bunnies.Mr. Neutral wrote:Yes, that was a slightly arrogant quote from the Owls' coach.

Gary, watching this team this year means pulling out what hair I have left. They can look like world beaters and duds in the same game. Jerri has had her lapses but yesterday she was money at the end.
somebody...it is the enquirer not a real newspaper!

It was great the way the Ladies came back and took control in the last 10 minutes of the game. I'm uncertain what specific adjustments were made but there was considerable improvement in the Lady Muskies' defensive rebounding. Earlier, the Owls were hitting the offensive boards hard and getting some easy stick-backs.

I've said this before and see no reason to change..The Enquirer has no competition any more. If you doubt the way things are going to be, take a look at Daugherty's and Dow's blogs...UC interlopers jump in with comments on Xavier topics to the tune of "Enough Xavier news, how about....
Xavier will continue to get the short end of the stick in this town until that rag on Elm Street gets some competition.
And the following will make Thor barff--I have heard that the Dayton Daily News owners are trying to buy the Post name and what's left of the subscription lists from Scripps Howard and plan to publish a 7-day a week paper circulating in Cincinnati and Kentucky.
Read it and weep.

Re: Phila. Inquirer game story on Lady Muskies' win
I know virtually nothing about the DDN's business policies, editorial leanings, or reporter assignment status, but the possibility of an alternate voice to the Enquirer would certainly be welcome on the Cincinnati scene. That would especially be true if we could have back the likes of Lonnie Wheeler and great reporters of the quality of some guy named Bob Queenan.
q, have you heard if the DDN would plan to go head-to-head against the Enquirer in the morning, or would they revert the Post/Times-Star to an evening daily with a Sunday morning edition?
