Re: BannersOnTheParkway looks at '12-'13 uncertainty
Seems like a silly article. Stating that it is primarily the departure of Tu that leaves the team without an obvious player ready to step in makes no sense in the context used. He is a single player so unless you are blaming him for not developing teammates it is no more his fault than any other player that left the team.
Additionally the article seems to indicate that Tu was this amazing player that will be almost impossible to replace. While he had great stats, he didn't do much to improve his teammates. He also failed to get drafted which further indicates he is not as talented as many X fans believe. Similarly Crawford has done little in the NBA indicating he was also a product of the offensive style Mack uses. To be clear, both of these players are very talented and either could eventually have great professional careers but their stats are a product of style of play in addition to their talent.
For everything that happens there is the other side of what didn't happen. A shot by Tu is also a shot not taken by someone else. A TO by Lyons is an opportunity lost. A pass not made to an open post player is not just a missed opportunity but a potential psychological impact on the player not getting the ball. If you are going to analyze basketball, you should look at it like a chess game as an action has effects beyond the immediate result. This is precisely why a team with modest talent and athleticism can often compete and beat a superior team. Butler during their two year run is a great example of this. They obviously had talent on the team but they undoubtedly achieved beyond their level of talent.

I'll have to agree with Madness. The article, to me, was nothing more than a sugar coated history lesson with little foresight to the upcoming season that hasn't been said before.

And, as always, madness seems to place the blame of Xavier's supposed inability to develop players squarely at Coach Mack's feet. (And yet the Muskies continually get to the NCAA Tourney and advance beyond, rather than flame out, in the first game.)
Fathers James Hoff and Michael Graham, AD Mike Bobinski, and Head Coaches Staak, Gillen, Prosser, Matta, Miller, & Mack represent a Golden Era of Xavier Men's Basketball. AD Christopher and Head Coach Steele will bring us to an even higher level!

Re: BannersOnTheParkway looks at '12-'13 uncertainty
At the risk of sounding petty, I'm getting tired of guys who offer little or no Xavier-related items from other websites complaining about what they say as the article's lack of depth or new information.
I'm doing what I can to find X-related articles that might be of interest to posters, especially during the summer when there's very little "hard" news to report. These are just items that you may or may not find enlightening, but they're certainly more than most guys are bringing to the table.
I'll say what I've said before, if you don't like what someone else has posted, then find and post your own articles from other sites for the board's benefit. Basically, quit bitching and start doing.

I can't find blame with Chris Mack in regard to Jordan Crawford's NBA career. He's been in the league a few years now under a few different coaches. Is it their fault he hasn't developed or is it something to do with Crawford's overall talent?Or is it all college coaches' fault that 99% of players don't have successful NBA careers? Analyze basketball like chess? 31 used this article response as another shot at Chris Mack.

I would but I'm self employed and don't have the time.I'll say what I've said before, if you don't like what someone else has posted, then find and post your own articles from other sites for the board's benefit. Basically, quit bitching and start doing.

I know you're enjoying your traveling, which is great, but what are you, job-wise? Just asking, as we haven't seen each for several years, so the catching-up has been minimal, to say the least.

Contract out for website development. It all started back when I did the website or the Chicago Alumni site as well as others back in the old home town. Contracting to others gives me the flexibility to travel and work occasionally at my leisure to pay for some of my expenses. Nothing like being able to work and never meet your current boss who may live clear across country. The changes in technology offer mental challenges continuously so I never get bored.
